A rematch between welterweights Josh Koscheck and Paulo Thiago, scheduled for UFC 109 on February 6 in Las Vegas, is off as Koscheck has been forced to withdraw from the event with an undisclosed injury, according to MMA Fighting.
Mike Swick has reportedly agreed to replace his American Kickboxing Academy teammate Koscheck and fight Thiago at the pay-per-view event.
Swick (14-3) had won 9 of his last 10, including four-straight at 170-pounds, before dropping a unanimous decision to upcoming welterweight challenger Dan Hardy in November.
After upsetting Koscheck with a first-round knockout in his UFC debut in February, Thiago (12-1) dropped a unanimous decision to Jon Fitch in July before topping Jacob Volkmann in November.
Koscheck (14-4) bounced back from the loss to Thiago with victories over Frank Trigg in September and Anthony Johnson in November.
UFC 109 is headlined by Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman and also features Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller, Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen, and Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg.
