It hasn’t taken the UFC long to find a new opponent for Tony Ferguson, as the promotion has announced that Edson Barboza will fight him on December 11th, after the withdrawal of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov recently confirmed┬áthat he’s gone down with a broken rib, and will not be able to compete at the TUF 22 Finale as a result. MMA Fighting.com reported that Barboza was being considered as a replacement, and now the UFC has made it official.

Barboza (16-3) heads into the bout having gone 3-2 in his last 5 outings, and most recently he outgunned Paul Felder for the decision win.

Ferguson (19-3), on the other hand, has won six in a row and earned a UD victory over Josh Thomson in his last scrap.

So, that’s an interesting fight no question. Stylistically speaking, Barboza is a much, much, different opponent than the grappling titan, Nurmagomedov.

The TUF 22 Finale will be hosted by The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Nevada.
