Ronda Rousey Talks Nick Diaz, Says no One Deserves Life Sentence For “Parking Tickets”

After Nick Diaz was handed a five year suspension by the Nevada Commission, Ronda Rousey was quick to criticize the ruling, and the bantamweight champ hasn’t let up.

Diaz was handed the lengthy suspension in September, after he tested positive for marijuana in January. Not long after the suspension was announced Rousey said the ruling wasn’t fair. More recently, at a media scrum to promote her upcoming bout with Holly Holm, Rousey said this (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“You know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of, say you got a parking ticket, and you didn’t pay for it, and then you got another parking ticket and you didn’t pay for it … no matter how many parking tickets, no matter how long you don’t pay for it, you never deserve life in prison,” Rousey said. “Yeah, you could be a repeat offender and not be paying it, and whatever – you could do all of the worst things that could ever be associated with parking tickets, but at the end of the day, it’s a parking ticket and you don’t deserve life in jail.”

There’s probably a lot of folks who agree with Rousey on this. Case in point, over 100,000 people signed a White House petition to have Diaz’s suspension lifted. I

f you missed, recently Diaz announced that his legal team are in talks with the Nevada Commission, and that they’re going well. In other words, it looks like the commission is responding to the widespread outcry the suspension has received, and is looking at reducing it.

Diaz aside, Rousey will take on Holm at UFC 193, which will air here in North America on November 14th.
