UFC, WEC, Versus Formally Announce New Deal; UFC Fight Night Events to Air Live in 2010

Versus LogoZuffa, the parent company of the UFC and WEC, and Versus, the television home of the WEC since 2007, today officially announced their recently finalized deal that will keep the WEC on Versus and also see two live UFC events air on the network in 2010.

During a Wednesday media conference call, UFC President Dana White said that the UFC events will be similar to “UFC Fight Night” cards that have traditionally aired on Spike TV and that the promotion is already working on matchups for the first event, which is expected to be announced in January.

Versus Executive Vice President Marc Fein added that, like WEC events, Versus will work closely with the UFC to determine dates for the cards that will maximize television viewers as well as live attendance.

White also hinted that the new deal could eventually lead to live UFC events on NBC, which is now owned by Versus’ parent company Comcast.
