Pride Sale Confirmed to U.S. Staff
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Nobuyuki Sakakibara, Pride President and CEO, has confirmed the Pride sale to the Fertitta brothers in a message to employees. From the article:
“Nobuyuki Sakakibara yesterday told several members of the U.S. Pride staff that the company is in the proces of being sold to Lorenzo & Frank Fertitta. He said the agreement in principal is done but there are still some minor points to be worked out and the contract is not signed. Sakakibara said he would be leaving the company but that everyone would be keeping their jobs. The company would be operated separately from UFC, but obviously UFC could use any Pride fighter for a big match that it needed.”
This seems to be the most solid news we have heard of so far regarding the sale but this is not a done deal. Any number of things could go wrong with this deal like they have before so until it is announced these are only rumors, very solid rumors.

YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!! finally….is anyone out there happy as i am about this…some dream match ups coming perfect timing too with the sport blowing up after 43 year old randy couture wins the heavyweight at a recod breaking 3 times (beats his own record too)seems like chuck liddel is gonna be around for a long time with such fights being wanted like the ice man and wanderlei silva as was supposed to happen last year dan henderson as he would like to fight chuck (which wouldnt be hard as he is the middle weight and welter weight titles over in pride)also a personal dream fight of mine Mauricio Rua vs Chuck Liddel, dont matter if its for a title or not i jus wanna see who wins..i think shoguns kick boxing is a league in its own…mean while Chucks stand-up is unrivled in the ufc now…not to mention that take down defence…i see big money in that kinda fight….how bout anderson silva vs mauricio rua….there styles almost the same…not a bad match-up…anyways i should leave it at that
