Former WWE champion and undefeated heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley has signed a multi-year contract with Strikeforce and will debut against an opponent to-be-determined at the promotion’s January 30 Showtime-televised event in Sunrise, Florida.
Lashley (4-0), a two-time NAIA wrestling champion, made his MMA debut last December with a first-round TKO of Joshua Franklin and has since improved to 4-0 with wins over Jason Guida, Mike Cook, and Bob Sapp in 2009.
The fight card for “Strikeforce: Miami” also features 145-pound women’s champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, Herschel Walker, and Nick Diaz.

Ooo! Someday we may see Fedor vs. Lashley!
Alright bring over HHH, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Bautista and Strikeforce will kill UFC. Haha jk im excited to see what Lashley can do it Strikeforce.
most of thoughs guy would fail a doping test, most are only the size they are due to roids.
Guess this puts to rest the rumours of Lashley dumping MMA for TNA.
He just recorded a few episodes of TNA last week.
I meant “completly”
This is Great! Strikeforce is getting alot of Talent as of late! 2010 looks to be a good year for fans with some choice out there!!!
I wouldn’t mind see his first Strikeforce fight be against Lavar Johnson (if he is up to it, after being shot by a 14yr old girl and all.. He looked fit when I saw him at the Challenger Series event here in Fresno a month ago)
good call, but is 5 months long enough!
you guys could of put an mma picture up instead of an wwe one hahaha, bobby is a beast tho i think he’d kill kimbo suprised dana hasn’t taken a chance on him?
So you think that some ex-wrestler who cuts to get to 265 lbs could beat Kimbo who walks at 225 and has a weak, yet improving, ground game. Man, you are bold. I agree about the MMA picture. They don’t use a Lesnar WWE picture still.
To my knowledge we don’t currently have an MMA picture of Lashley, one of the consequences of him fighting in smaller shows, I’ll try to fix that, though.
Lashley wasn’t as popular as Lesnar as a wrestler, and also hasn’t shown the rapid increase in MMA acumen that Lesnar showed prior to joining the UFC, which is why Dana hasn’t taken a chance on him.
As far as Lashley v. Kimbo in terms of Dana taking a chance, Lashley could have come onto TUF if he wanted, but his management didn’t want him to do that.
Better?
Wow, you’re quick. Yes, better.
With one or two exceptions, Strikeforce may not yet have the calibre of fighter that the ufc can boast but the level of interest in their organisation seems to grow by the day.
I hope he does good maybe he can fight brett rogers in a fight or two.
Sweet signing for Strikeforce. While he won’t have the drawing power of a Lesnar, he’s been in the WWE recently relative to Lesnar so the young crowd might be more apt to make the transition from pro wrestling to MMA.
While I thought he’d stay focused on TNA (not like it needs much focus though) and earn more $$$ there, TNA and Strikeforce are known for having open contracts, I’m not overly surprised. Guess he wants to be known as a legit athlete.
Bobby lashley needs to stick to TNA he sucks as a mma fighter he is just strong he could’nt even do anything to jason guida but i guess strikeforce needs all the fighters they can get
