Brock Lesnar UFC 91 Weigh-InUFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, sidelined since November with a combination of illnesses, is “feeling much better”, his head trainer, Greg Nelson, recently informed MMAWeekly, though he has yet to resume major training.

Despite UFC President Dana White saying just last week that they were still unsure about his future, the promotion is reportedly targeting a July return for Lesnar, according to Heavy.com, and his anticipated matchup with Shane Carwin, previously scheduled for November and January, could headline the UFC’s Boston debut.

no but seriously i hope he does come back for the debut in boston.

  • ufcmanz says:

Long wait in between fights for Carwin , if he fights Brock in July then he hasn’t fought in over a year (last fight in March 7/09) Carwin should Fight someone like Gonzaga in Feb, keep the ring rust off. Back up plan winner of Nog vs Cain gets Lesnar if Carwin losses.

Lesnah in Bahston, excellent news. Good to hear he is recovering. Considering we just got slammed with snow, July seems so far away, but it will be here before we know it.

Well, this is great news. It really would have been a shame if someone as athletically talented as him was forced out of mma early do to an illness.

  • Avatar of carls carls says:

My question is whos gonna be the #1 contender by that time. Cause if Velasquez beats Nog then that will be 2 fights hes one to Carwin’s 0 since the time the two of them were to fight.

The same can be said for Nog if he beats Cain where does he stand? Maybe a rematch with Mir if he beats Kongo. But id like to see that as a title fight one day.

    Who knows.

If you read the article it clearly states that Carwin will not lose his place as Lesnar’s next opponent.

      • Avatar of carls carls says:

True, but it is the UFC. We’ve seen coutless #1 contenders get bumped or have to fight again even though they were set as the #1 contender.

In Carwin’s case he might be the more marketable guy which is the way(more often than not)the UFC likes to go.

Just as a possible scenario to see hwere Im coming from. Say lesnar takes an extra month or so to heal.(we’ve seen this before) and Cain beats Nog then beats the Dos Santos/Yvel winner in this time frame. One would think he might be under serious consideration Since by this time like UFCmanz pointed out it will be something like 15 months or so since Carwin has fought.

15 months off = Ring rust
Ring rust + a fight with lesnar = serious beating

i see no reason for carwin ‘saving himself’ for being raped by brock…
carwin is good but i want to see his ground game…

  • JOHNBOY says:

great news lesnar is the daddy i cant think how people can beat him now hes up there with gsp and anderson

  • Vinz_Clortho says:

Well we all knew he wasn’t really sick. We all knew he would be back. This is about as close to WWE drama as Dana can get without spelling it out for people.

Hmmm do Rashad and Rampage actually have beef? What exactly goes into a UFC or TUF contact?

Is it coincidence that they talked trash in the ring.. and do you actually believe it? If the UFC thought they actually had beef they would not have been allowed in the ring together. Just the way it happened looked setup.

The Lesnar thing looks setup. Lot’s of these OMGGG BEEFS look setup in the UFC. It’s 90% show people.

If you do, you probably thought wrestling was real too. Common, so much of this crap is fabricated and it has been gearing up and up ever since Tito walked in and made trash talking idiots the shizznizzle.

The $$ signs just spin spin spin in the heads of Zuffa and Co. the fighting may be real, but don’t fall into the trap of believing the rest is anything but make believe.

It’s a conspiracy I tell thee! Dana just wanted the debut in his hometown to feature his bestest, baddest and biggest buddy in the world!

Obviously I am joking. I am really happy he is coming back as from what Dana was shouting before, it was as if Brock was done for way longer than Shogun would be out for.

Like people have been saying, plans change, so Cain or Nog could easily be his new opponent, or god forbid it’s Mir…

What if they feed our new TUF winner to Carwin to keep the ring rust away, see if he can keep the Burger King Belly off him?

  • Avatar of RussoC13 RussoC13 says:

carwin should fight the winner of nog vs cain.. that should keep the ring rust off.. but i dont think that will happen.. the winner of nog vs cain will fight the winner of kongo vs mir to see who will fight lesnar after lesnar destroys carwin

  • craig says:

i think that lesnar will have more ring rust than carwin. at least carwin is able to go to the gym, spar, and stay in shape. time off versus illness isnt exactly a good championship fight.

  • BuzzBradski says:

    Lesnar, I can’t stanz ya!…….but it’s good to hear you’ll be back.

  • Back from Iraq says:

I figured Brock would be back eventually and I’d love to watch him and Carwin go at it, a true clash of the titans. If Nog gets by Cain, I’d love to watch the rematch of Mir and Nog, Mir fighting Nog when he isn’t sick with the flu and recovering from an infection and surgery. JDS and Yvel should be a great fight, 2 guys who love to scrap and throw bombs. The Heavyweight division has gotten better and I’d love to see Fedor cut ties with M1 temporarily so he could come to the UFC and have it out with the heavyweights there and maybe do a superfight with Anderson Silva and a couple 205ers
