Dustin Hazelett to Replace Carlos Condit, Fight Paul Daley at UFC 108
Dustin Hazelett has been tapped to replace an injured Carlos Condit and square off with Paul Daley at UFC 108 on January 2 in Las Vegas, according to MMAWeekly.
Condit withdrew from the matchup with Daley with an undisclosed injury earlier Wednesday, and has since told MMAWeekly that he cut his hand on a piece of sheet metal, including cutting one finger “down to the the bone”.
Hazelett (12-4) hasn’t fought since earning “Submission of the Night” honors for his win over Tamdan McCrory last November, which improved his UFC record to 5-2, withdrawing from a March matchup with Ben Saunders due to a knee injury before Karo Parisyan backed out at the last minute of planned November fight at UFC 106.
Daley (22-8-2) upset Martin Kampmann in his UFC debut in September, knocking out the welterweight contender in the opening round for his third-straight win.
Daley-Hazelett is expected to remain as the co-main event for UFC 108, which is headlined by Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva and also features Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel, Tyson Griffin vs. Jim Miller, and Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout.

This is a classic match and we all know it, McLovin is going to move up due to his Jitz or Daley is going to make a statement by ko’ing a fan Favorite, I can’t wait for this fight, this is better than the original (Condit v Daley)
Great fight and a fantastic matchup of styles. In one corner you have one of the best pure strikers at WW in the world. And in the other a BBJ guy whos creative and agressive submission game is simply one of the best at WW.

Its a good matchup, but I wouldn’t say that its better than the original… Condit vs Daley would have been the perfect for each other stylistically. I imagine Mclovin’s gonna be pulling guard a bunch a times and circling like crazy. I’m excited for the matchup but would have liked to see Condit fight imo.

condit vs daley was a better fight but what a great opportunity for hazelett! I think daley is in more trouble against mcloving than against condit. Mclovin’s got better overall striking than condit and could possibly have a better ground game. His subs are pretty ****ing sick and if it goes to the ground daley’s done. Daley has to be patient and not comitt to much to shots that will end up in a grappling match. He’s got some great power though so as long as mclovin avoids those hands he can get what imo will be an upset.
I like both guys but am pulling for daley so he can eventually take out kos.
i disagree with you both 100%….condit would have had absolutly nothing on daley standign and would have got ko’d on the feet so his only advantage would have been the ground game……a game that dustin is 1000 times better than him at……therefore hazlett vs daley is better than daley vs condit
I agree with Gun on this one. Im scared for Hazelett but I’ll be rootin him on from the edge of my couch. I think if Daley pushes the pace he’ll get this one.

If you guys go back to read again what I said and that’s the hazelett has got better stand up then condit and probably a better ground game therefor this is a more dangerous match for daley. I only said condit vs daley was a “better match” because imo daley has a better shot at beating condit then he does hazelett.

I dont know how to say this but I think the likelyhood of ending this fight goes to Hazelett. His Jitz is better than Condits Striking/GnP.

You guys must know some inside information or something cause I can only judge from what i’ve seen in Hazelett’s last fights and his stand up really isn’t that impressive.
I think that Daley just going to be too strong on his feet, and like Nick said he should take this one if he pushes the pace. imo I don’t think this fight is going to make it past 2 rounds. Yeah I hope Daley wins and knocks out Kos, I don’t know who could possibly like him after that eye poke incident.
Dont mean to beat a dead horse but I dont think the eye poke was intentional IMHO. I actually think Hazeletts striking is pretty good he just doesn’t have much power
