Ricardo Almeida, Frankie Edgar Added to Fight Card for UFC 111 in New Jersey
Welterweight Ricardo Almeida and lightweight Frankie Edgar are both expected to be in action when the UFC returns to their home state of New Jersey for UFC 111 on March 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Almeida (11-3) returned to the UFC in early-2008, fighting for the first time in over three-years, with a swift submission of Rob Yundt, but next dropped a split decision to Patrick Cote last July. “Big Dog” bounced back in 2009 with decision wins over Matt Horwich and Kendall Grove, but was forced to withdraw from a November matchup with Jon Fitch after suffering a knee injury. Almeida recently told Sherdog that he’s rehabbing the injury with hopes of returning at UFC 111 and hopes to make his welterweight debut against Fitch on the card.
Edgar (11-1) won “Fight of the Night” honors for his second-round submission of Matt Veach at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale on Saturday, “The Answer’s” third-straight win and 6th in 7 UFC fights. Though unconfirmed, the lightweight contender Edgar is also expected to fight at UFC 111.
Opponents for Almeida and Edgar have yet to be determined.
UFC 111 is expected to be headlined by welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vs. Dan Hardy.

I see Edgar getting a big name fight here! The guy wins….his game has adapted….Sherk, Fisher, and Franca all got a piece of the Answer, I hope to see Frankie get a qualifier fight where if he wins he gets a title shot!
Hey Frakie should fight Kurt Pellegrino winner of that should fight Guida or Florian for the # 1 contender spot.
Didn’t Almeida move down to welterweight? He’s going to have a huge following there because he’s got a very popular school and he’s well liked.
he is trying to cut down to WW, he had to bow out of his scheduled debut fight v Fitch due to injury though, this makes sense I hope they both due well
loser of clay and kenny, assuming they are healthy enough to fight is my guess
I think it will be the winnder of Guida/Florian taking on Frankie. It makes no sense for him to be facing a guy on a loss for a contender match. With that being said, Kenny or Clay will be on a two fight losing streak, so I’d definitely say the winner.
I’d love to see Frankie vs. Kenny or Frankie vs. Guida
i think your forgeting about maynard even though he has a fight with diaz comeing up with a win wouldnt that put him over frankie?????
i was also thinking that a rematch between edgar and tyson griffon is in order
my bad thats what i meant to say. The WINNER of the clay kenny fight, not the loser.
GSP VS HARDY
RAMPAGE VS RASHAD
FITCH VS ALMEIDA
EDGAR VS GUIDA
KIMBO VS ???
ID LIKE TO SEE SOMETHING LIKE THAT…..
