hamill fight was the worse decision ive ever seen yeah ok he hit maybe 2 elbows but it was the damage b4 that fooked him up. bones jones is for real!

  • mmaman says:

All have to say about that fight is wow. Bones is the truth. I don’t know who’s gonna want to fight him next. He just put a whoopin on Hamil so there’s no going back to fighting chumps anymore. I say Luiz Cane or someone like that.

  • fr702 says:

Atleast the UFC isn’t paying Kimbo 500k to fight the likes of Tank Abbott or James Thompson like ProElite (EliteXC) did.. :P

    • Markus J says:

Just wait till he’s fighting on the PPV’s.

      • fr702 says:

I doubt Kimbo is making “Lesnar or Liddell or Couture” money, think logically now, yes Kimbo is a “draw” but he needs the UFC the UFC doesn’t need him, 500k (especially disclosed) is a lot of money and ya he makes some back end cash but he isn’t getting paid what the top guys are getting paid, there is no justification in that thought process, EliteXC is no longer in business because they over paid their fighters, Affliction MMA is no longer in business because they over paid their fighters (and Josh Barnett failed 3 drug tests)

The UFC knows THEIR business model and they do quite well with it…. Disclosed monies are NOT the final amount of money that said fighter recieves it is the amount that the UFC shows the Commission and/or tax board for proof that they have paid Fighter (a) and Fighter (b) for their work for that particular evening…

I don’t believe that Kimbo gets a “large” cut of the PPV revenue, points are established for huge draws, Liddell, Couture, Lesnar, Penn, Ortiz amongst others, people watch Kimbo (imo) for the “why not factor” can’t I just watch two guys scrap and leave the great technical battles to the ones that can actually apply their skills… We all tuned into Kimbo v Alexander to see who will KO who, and well that didn’t happen but in the beginning that is why you scooted up on the edge of your couch and focused cuz ya didn’t want to mis a second of this scrap, Kinda felt like yelling “fight fight fight” as if you were in High School again (no offense to the readers that are still in High school, stay off drugs kids :P )… You didn’t tune in to see Kimbo v Alexander to watch a technical BJJ battle, that is why Kimbo is a draw, no? But I believe that Dana truly understands that no matter how much of a “draw” Kimbo is he isn’t worth a disclosed or even un-disclosed 500k…. Atleast Kimbo is trying to up his game, Tank Abbott never wanted to learn the ground game or improve his skill set, Kimbo isn’t going to win the HW title probably Eva but he is trying gotta give it to him for that..

  • Clown says:

I remember on the TUF show that Hammil was on that he thought he was the greatness because nobody could take him down. I remember him not even using his arms and not having a problem sprawling and what not.

To see Bones toss him around like that shoulder or not it shows some skill. Elbows or not that fight was over might not have been right then but soon enough after.

    • dbiz says:

I don’t think anyone here has said that Bones wasn’t clearly the best fighter that night. If they did, they must be confusing that fight with Kimbo’s.

What has been said, argued, and to a point debated is whether Mazz screwed the pooch in that fight. I tend to fall on the side of it being the right result. I’m not saying Jones did the illegal strikes out of malice – more likely out of frustration and a bit of adrenaline trying to stop the fight.

Yeah, Jones looked damn impressive. If he keeps up like that (minus the downward elbows) he’s on his way to big things in tha division.

      • jcohl says:

And not to harp on this, but Jon Jones is a pretty young fighter. He got a little jazzed, and in the heat of the action made an unwise choice with those strikes. That aside, he dominated the fight and I’m sure secured a spot in a bigger, better fight down the road…

  • Micjasbro says:

Right when nelson won, i thought “wow, they got him cheap!!” I felt like he could have joined eventually at around 30k, huh. now he’s stuck with that bs contract for the next 4 years. and to make things worse they gave someone who lost to him a way better deal.

    • Justin says:

That someone that lost to him and got a better deal is a much better draw, and therefore more valuable to the UFC, despite his relative lack of ability.

    • fr702 says:

I doubt Nelson will be in that contract for 4 years, We will see what happens but if he continues to climb “up the ladder” he will be paid better imo, tho its not like he got Jardine’d :P

      • Micjasbro says:

Well I just think that he should have gotten a better deal, and probably is behind the scenes, hopefully. Maybe money isn’t an issue with him, but it probably didn’t set well with him when he saw that.

I know Kimbo is a bigger draw and we all knew he would get paid, but Nelson is more legit and deserves better than what he got. those types of situations should be dealt with behind closed doors and not advertised.

    • Justin says:

Nelson is a better fight, but the dumb masses of casual MMA fans have no idea who he is, and are in shock that he won TUF, unlike those of us hardcore guys that knew he would win going in. While Kimbo is more well known to those dumb masses than he deserves. Kimbo is money in the bank (at least for the time being) while Nelson is really a bit of a gamble even with the benefit of TUF publicity. Simple economics dictates that Kimbo get paid better.

  • jayo503 says:

The DQ for Jones was the wrong call. Matt Hamill was unable to fight due to the dislocated shoulder, and the UNBELIEVBALE ground and pound that Jones dished out. Had he not of used the illegal strikes Matt still would of been unable to fight, therefore the DQ was the wrong decision. If the illegal strikes had caused him to be unable to continue then thats when the DQ comes into play. Jones is the REAL DEAL and I have a feeling we will be seeing him again SOON, I feel sorry for his next opponent
