UFC 111 Won’t Take Place on March 13 Due To Mayweather-Pacquiao
A boxing superfight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao that is expected to take place on March 13 in Las Vegas will force the UFC to move UFC 111 from the date to another Saturday in March, according to UFC President Dana White.
“The UFC and pac man vs mayweather will not be the same night,” wrote White on Twitter. “I am pumped for that fight and will be there for that one!”
UFC 111 will reportedly take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and is expected to be headlined by welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre vs. challenger Dan Hardy.
According to the Prudential Center’s official calender, the venue is unavailable on March 20 due to an NHL game between the New Jersey Devils and St. Louis Blues, but is open on March 6 and March 27.

Yeah dude that’s what I meant. I know some mma fans that are into mma who would pay to watch pac vs weather before gsp vs hardy. If the two happened at the same time, those who would have bought the ufc ppv, would instead buy the boxing match.

Smart move, I just don’t think that the UFC could offer much competition to this boxing match. I’ll be watching it, that’s for sure.
Dana is still a fan of boxing (well the good matchups) and this is a smart move, I’ve been stating for awhile that this fight is again “bringing boxing back from the dead” bout, and honestly we all know that this PPV is going to sale like crazy, let boxing have their 1 bout, its ok…
Next thing you know Dana will be rescheduling UFC events because he won’t want to counter-programm against pro dodgeball on the Ocho…

This is boxing last stand. This will mark the end of any major boxing event. Once Floyd losses and Pacman becomes a politician for the Philipians they have nothing left. Good bye boxing, you had a good run but you’ll never be as big as this fight again. Im not saying boxing will die altogether but it will never be as big as mma IMO.
Its like comparing Horse Raceing to Nascar (not that i like ether). Horse racing is still around but is not as exciting or has as large of a following.
Many people say boxing is a dying sport but it still has quite a bit of power if you ask me…

While this is a mega/super fight for boxing, it’s their very last “big fight” they have to put together. Unless pac-man wins and then gives mayweather a rematch, this will be boxing’s last hurrah and boxing will almost completely fade away.

Whatever matches are booked for boxing, it will still take a step down and mma will be, and be for a long time, the most popular,dominant, biggest combat sport. for EVA!
I agree that this is another rare super fight ( or actually an intriguing ). UFC always puts on intriguing PPV’s, on a regular basis. Definitely MMA is the most dominating combat sport and at this pace will be for a long time. So I can’t really disagree with what your saying. I think my point is that with the right stars, seeing 2 guys box it out is still fun to watch although it is 1 dimensional. If you look at the current champions in the weight classes

they are uninteresting for the most part and I could be wrong on this one but are there not a huge lack of Canadian/American and south american stars ? There is no great Heavyweight champ like Ali/Foreman/Tyson/Lewis… I don’t care to see Klitchko fight …
who is the next great fight? I think the Super middle weight tournament on Shotime is the big thing in boxing right now but does anyone know who is competing? all i know is that its six guys all fighting each other and that the top four will do a round robbin tournament. I have no idea what the guys names are or who has won so far.

I wouldn’t be so quick to write off Mr. Mayweather; he’s undefeated for a reason.
You’ve gotta agree with Dana on this, lets face it alot of MMA fans are gonna be boxing fans aswell, and even thought I’m big on UFC it’d be Mayweather Pacquiao that I’d be watching if there was any clash.
To the guy saying Dana puts shows up against Strikeforce, maybe that’s because they’re direct competitors? Boxing and UFC can go perfectly happy side by side, whereas UFC and Strikeforce are fighting for dominance in the same market.
As a side note, what are people’s feelings on this fight? As brilliant as Pacquiao is, I’ve gotta say I’m fancying Mayweather to stay undefeated.
