This only makes me have more respect for my man Bones. The guy is so humble at such a young age is almost unheard of. He didn’t try and make excuses for the illegal strikes witch a lot of other fighters would have.

It’s funny after his dismantling of the Hammer people say he needs a step up in competition witch in this fight he was the underdog. Let’s get it right people.

In the end the once again horrible refs determined the outcome of a fight, when I thought and others would agree it should have been stopped BEFORE the illegal blows and this wouldn’t be an issue.

    • Markus J says:

Hamill was done, he said so himself. His shoulder was dislocated, and he took countless unanswered blows to the head. There was no way he was getting out of Jones mount and only a matter of time before the final knockout blow was landed. Kid has a strong chin for sure, but that fight should have been stopped. Tough break for Bones.

    • Fred says:

I, too, was very impressed with his post-fight interview. I think he will come back and be even scarier in his next fight!

  • Chris says:

Where was the warning for Jones anyways? No warning just let him elbow him for 3 min then stop it?? Weird

  • jcohl says:

Guys, check the NSAC rules on this thing.
Yes, I know Mazzagatti has a rep for shaky officiating, but this one time he did the right thing.
Jones is He11a impressive, and will be back in a big way, as will Hamill when he recovers and works out the kinks, but claiming that the “horrible ref” determined the outcome of the fight does a disservice to both fighters, and the sport.
Jones thru illegal strikes in a sanctioned professional MMA bout, and in accordance to the NSAC guidelines in this area. the ref DQ’ed him and named Hamill the winner.
    End of story…

    • Bigworthy says:

the one thing that i don’t get was , if he could not of continued because of the 12:6 strikes that would of been ok. But he could not continue due to his shoulder, yhat makes me feel it sould have been a no contest. Sorry for spelling done on phone.

  • WM says:

Jones representation, I think, sighted the rules identifying any illegal blow that could have contributed to a fighter not being able to continue results in a DQ. They checked the replay, the illegal blows were obvious and not responsible for the earlier damage done to Hammil but were contributory. It seems unfair to Jones considering his dominating performance but within the NSAC rules.

  • animosity says:

    jcohl,

Your points are valid as usual, but there should have been a warning, a point taken he!!, even give Hamill the round but to say he was stopped from illegal elbows isn’t correct. Hamill was done before that an everyone watching the fight knew that. Hamill is a warrior and wouldn’t have given up if his arm was ripped off.

  • russiandoeboi says:

    HOW GOES HAMILL’S RECOVERY?!?!?!?

for his sake and for the sport too.
i want to see him against other top guys, i felt like his heart wasnt in the fight against franklin, his friend.

but i still think he’s top 20 with potential to keep rising.

    obviosuly jones too
