Sean Salmon Comments on Upcoming Bouts, Contract Status
MMAFrenzy.com had the chance to catch up with 2-time UFC fighter Sean Salmon to discuss his MMA career. Salmon suffered two losses in the UFC at the hands of Rashad Evan in January and Alan Belcher in May. Following his loss at UFC 71 Salmon left the UFC to fight elsewhere but his exact contract status was not clear. Salmon had this to say regarding his ties with the UFC:
“I have not been tied contractually to the UFC since I asked for and was granted my release after UFC 71.”
Yesterday it was announced that Salmon will be on the debut card of “HDNet Fights” taking on Leopoldo Serao on October 13th in Dallas. According to Salmon he is signed to a single-fight contract with the organization:
“My fight with HDNet Fights is only for 1 fight. I have been offered contracts from most all of the remaining top organizations, but am waiting until after the HDNet Fight to decide which direction to take my career.”
Although he could not go into details on the organizations they are likely to include the IFL, BodogFight, and EliteXC.
Salmon will face Mikko Rupposen at Fight Festival 22 in Finland on September 22nd before returning to the US for his upcoming fight against Serao on October 13th.

Salmon is a good guy and hopefully we see him back in the UFC and at Middleweight.
He has heart…I hope to see him back too. I kinda like Sean Evans….I mean Salmon. Well whatever you want to call him….Rashad did kinda make him his b**** haha.
before the kick he was doing good. had a take down.except for those crazy side kicks and all that goofy **** he tried
Salmon held his own against a really good Light Heavyweight in Rashad Evans. Salmon won the first round and if he didn”t get kicked in the head, maybe he wins that fight by decision. He did look like he was running out of gas though, but Samlon is a decent fighter and I wish him the best.
