UFC 193: Holly Holm Admits She “Fears Everything” About Ronda Rousey

Now that Holly Holm is scheduled to fight Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, it doesn’t sound like the bantamweight’s going to be engaging in much trash talk, heading into the scrap.

Holm was originally booked to fight Rousey at UFC 195 in January, but after Robbie Lawler recently went down with a thumb injury, the bout was moved to November 14th. Lawler had been scheduled to fight Carlos Condit at the Melbourne bound event.

Recently the talented pugilist appeared on “Inside MMA” to discuss her upcoming title fight, and here is some of what Holm had to say about Rousey (quotes via MMA Mania.com):

“She’s got a well-rounded game. I’m not going in there thinking, ‘oh I only have to worry about, you know, grappling.’ I do know she has knockout power so I don’t feel like you guys are going to see what you’ve seen before with her. I fear everything about her. Standup, ground, clinch, all that. And I feel like that’s the way you need to be with any fighter.”

“Everybody’s beatable. Is it going to be hard as heck? Absolutely. It’s going to be the hardest fight of my career. I have to absolutely do everything right from the beginning to the end of the fight. Is it going to be easy? No, that is not what I’m saying. But I’m going in there to win and it’s very possible.”

Yes, long gone are the days when Rousey was largely a submission specialist. Rousey has demonstrated in pretty convincing fashion that she can put opponents away with strikes, as well as jaw dropping armbars (see win over Cat Zingano).

Holm’s also right about the fact that anyone can be beat. Even if this person has needed approximately two minutes–total–to defeat her last four opponents. Can Holm pull off what will be regarded as one of the biggest upsets ever?

UFC 193 will be hosted by the Etihad Stadium.
