TD GardenMassachusetts Governor Deval Patrick on Monday signed a bill passed last month by lawmakers to officially regulate mixed martial arts in the state, clearing way for the UFC to debut in Boston in 2010.

“Gov. Deval patrick just signed the MMA bill in Mass.! I am so excited words can not describe! Here we come Boston! NY is next! Think about where we started. One state to go then Ontario!,” wrote UFC President Dana White on Twitter.

Though a date has yet to be determined for the event, the card is expected to take place in the summer, with White, a Boston-native, previously stating that Fenway Park and TD Garden were under consideration as venues for the show.
