Sure, it may sound like this is stemming from the UFC marketing department, but come on…even the biggest cynic has to admit the line-up for December is looking pretty, pretty sweet.
Yes, according to multiple reports, Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes are going to throw down in the headliner for the TUF 22 Finale, which will take place on December 11th. The featherweight bout was reported first by Brazil’s Lancenet, and several other outlets are reporting that verbal agreements are in place for the fight.
Edgar (19-4-1) will be looking to extend his winning streak to five, after decisioning Urijah Faber in May. Mendes (17-3), on the other hand, is looking to get back on track after he was stopped by McGregor in July. The bout matches up the #2 ranked featherweight in Edgar, against the #3 positioned Mendes.
The TUF 22 Finale will take place in Las Vegas, however, the card’s venue has yet to be determined. Tony Ferguson is also scheduled to fight fellow lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov at the event.
It’s also taking place the night before UFC 194, which will be headlined by a featherweight bout between champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. That card will also see middleweight champ Chris Weidman take on Luke Rockhold, and “Jacare” Souza battle fellow 185 contender Yoel Romero. So, don’t expect to do much else but watch fights that weekened…
