TUF 10′s Darrill Schoonover Called Back to Active Army Duty
Heavyweight Darrill Schoonover, a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter 10, has been called back to active duty by the U.S. Army and is likely to serve in Afghanistan following his UFC debut on December 5 at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale, Schoonover revealed in a recent interview with Shambala Sports Radio.
Schoonover (10-0) defeated Zak Jensen via first-round triangle choke to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals, where he’ll meet Marcus Jones for a spot in the semis. The final episode of The Ultimate Fighter 10 airs next Wednesday and features the remaining two quarterfinal matchups, as well as both semifinals before next Saturday’s live finale.

I just wish Titties a safe journey, hope the guy makes it back ok because times are tough, war and all, good luck Titties and a salute to you for being in the Military and helping to keep all of us safe.
i hope rampage feels like an asshole now
Trust me, Rampage has a LOT more things to feel like an a$$hole about than calling some guy t!tties on national TV…
You mean like wreckless driving while jacked on energy drinks and causing a pregnant woman to loss her child?
come on dude that was rule not to be linked!
One simple request, can we not call the guy “Titties” on an article about him getting ready to ship over seas to protect this country. It seems a lot disrespectful.
i know where you are coming from. but what do you think he is going to be called on the front line?
Something tells me that on the front lines they aren’t going to be insulting the guy that’s supposed to have their backs.
You would be surprised.
Maybe its one of those things where if a fellow solider refers to Schoonover as “t!tties”, its all good, but if some lazy good for nothing does it, they’re going to catch a beating…
Probably titties but if they don’t like him “**** Tits” ……..
Amen.
I feel bad for him. He was far from being annoying, and other than looking like a bit of a lush, was fairly likeable. He is going to have to put up with that nickname for the next few years. It could be worse though- he could have had a much worse nickname in the military.
Darrill I appreciate the service and well, have a safe journey there and a safe return home
And again, Amen.
Doesn’t Schnoover’s involvement in the TUF Finale seem to signal that he will beat Marcus Jones in the semi-final fight? I know that they have other guys from the season fight at the finale but I figured Schnoover wouldn’t be one of them.
No, it doesn’t signal that. Usually the TUF finale undercard is filled with guys from the season, and since he already won a fight on the show, why not?
i hope he comes back to ft hood. we miss him.
Godspeed, dude. I hope you come back and get your shot at Rampage someday! You’re a hero in my book.
The reason why your comment was in moderation is because you didn’t type in your e~mail correctly so I changed it for you, peace
Thanks, dude!
The thing is….most of you guys who refer to him as titties in this forum and under these circumstances would NEVER say that to his face. You should be humbled by his sacrifice and commitment. He is part of an organization (US ARMY) that LESS THAN 1 PERCENT of the population has the guts to join!!
Morris (tho another poster here has the same IP), I don’t believe that anyone HERE is discrediting him or his service I do believe that we all are supportive of the Men and women in the armed forces, I appreciate the sacrafice that all put forth…
Perhaps not everyone was aware of his involvement in the Armed Forces that is a possiblity… Again thanks to all that serve…
fr702, you were very observant to notice that another poster has the same IP address and posted from the same office earlier; I struggle to understand your point and resent your implication. You are welcome for the service, and for those of us who knew darrill, we are slightly protective of what he stands for. Im certain you can understand that.
Morris,
The implication that you may be the same person posting under another name is nothing personal. In all honesty it can be a problem around here, and we’ve had a fair share of people that do just that. By the same token, we have had a fair share of people posting from the same office and therefore have the same IP but are different people. From our end, however, the only way to know which is which is to ask, which is all he was doing.
yeah, we are not the same person. although, alot of people mistake us all the time. we work in the same office and sit across from each other. look us up on facebook.
Took your number out… not a good plan to post a phone number on the internet. -Justin H
no biggie. its our work number. u still have it?
if so, give us a call.
Nope. Anyways, you fellows have a good Thanksgiving, and thanks for your service.
I am mostly surprised that the fact that he is in the Army wasn’t at least mentioned on the show. It probably would have helped create a larger fanbase for the guy. Oh well, another missed opportunity for TUF 10. Good luck to him.
‘Cause it’s hard to laugh at Rampage’s jokes when you know the guy who’s on the brunt of them has actually shed blood, sweat, and tears in another country while protecting the rights of the d-bag who’s dishing out the insults. I’m not a supporter of the wars that are going on right now, but shame on UFC for allowing Rampage to get his say in and not telling the Schoonover story (though I will still call him by his nickname when speaking of him in an MMA context).
Good Luck Dude. Just A thought, but why not just make “Titties” his nickname? Seriously turn it against Rampage in that sense. If a guy has the nickname “Christmas” or “Twinkle Toes” why not “Titties”.
Darrill “Titties” Schoonover.
Well Schoon has plans of actually getting back down to light heavyweight while he’s over there, which would therefore get rid of his moobs, and negate the nickname.
And its not like Schoonover is the first, or last, TUF contestant to fight at a non-optimal weightclass just in order to get on the show.
Also, Schoon wasn’t the only guy in the house this season to seem, at least to me, to be a 205er before the cut.
Plus, I’ve got to believe that the Army life, particularly somewhere like Afghanistan, will help a man to drop any unwanted poundage…
From my experiance most people don’t like their nicknames, for instance mine is Aids, the same illness that killed my uncle. Regardless I find that the more you let a nickname bother you, the more people will call you it, seems to be human nature. So Titties good luck over there.
That’s the absolute worst nickname I have ever heard in my life. Yes, I can’t think of a worse nickname….ever.
i hope Darrill makes it back okay,it’d be a shame if something happened to such a good fighter like him
Good luck to Darrill. On the nickname front, he was prepared to go toe to toe with an Arse like Jackson,a former world champion. If I was a average grunt I wouldn`t be calling him any names.
I love bigbaby but seeing “titties” defeating Rampages only fighter would be so awesome, after all that’s been said. It would be really cool if he won TUF 10 and then took a year of join the army also. From a mocked computer kid to a national hero in a couple of weeks.
WAR SCHOONOVER!!
first let me say thank you to all who serve and your welcome for my service that being said ..if he wins doesent he hae a contract to fight. and how is he going to do that from there plus the training.i think the army should sponser him. let him train while on active duty and fight with army on his shorts.let him be the army of one
He does have a contract to fight, but the way it’s structured allows him to serve his tour without issue. In reality it’s no different than a fighter who is out for a year with injuries.
He indicated in the interview he’s going to continue his training while serving as could drop down to light heavyweight when he returns.
