WEC 46: Fights Added to “Varner vs. Henderson” Main, Preliminary Cards
The WEC has added a number of fights to the WEC 46: Varner vs. Henderson fight card since the event, which takes place on January 10 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California, was announced earlier this month.
Joining a headlining lightweight unification matchup between Jamie Varner and Ben Henderson and Urijah Faber vs. Raphael Assuncao on the Versus-televised WEC 46 main card will be Mackens Semerzier vs. Deividas Taurosevicius and Charlie Valencia vs. Akitoshi Tamura.
The event’s preliminary card includes Mark Homick vs. Yves Jabouin, Rafael Rebello vs. Eddie Wineland, and former lightweight George Roop’s bantamweight debut against Jesse Moreng.
In other WEC news:
- UFC President Dana White announced on Friday that the promotion has signed a new deal with Versus, though details on the agreement weren’t revealed.
- Former featherweight contender Wagnney Fabiano is dropping down to the bantamweight division.

I wonder how well this will sale, you have Urijah but he isn’t facing a “big name” if you will, even the casual fan knew that Brown ko’d their boy.. Varner v Henderson is that going to pull enough fans I dunno…
I’m thinking that Faber’s return fight should sell pretty well against almost any opponent with a pulse.
Also its not like Varner and Henderson aren’t going to grab their share of the spotlight. Folks have been waiting awhile to see the less-than-popular Varner get his sh!t pushed in by someone the crowd can cheer for…
Correct but when Urijah fought Jens it was like 13,000 similar #’s when he fought Brown so I’m not sure what he will pull against Assucano….. I actually think that Benson Henderson is a bigger name than Varner due to the war he had with Cerrone so that might help, I’m just not sure it will be a sellout like the two previous occassions….
