For a few weeks now, the consensus was that Jose Aldo – Conor McGregor would go down in December, and now the massive bout has a date and a venue. No, it’s not going to take place at AT&T Stadium in Texas….(unfortunately).
UFC boss man Dana White has told Yahoo Sports that the championship bout will take place December 12th, and that it will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. According to White, they couldn’t come to a deal with AT&T Stadium and that MGM Grand officials went above and beyond to secure the fight.
The third instalment of Ronda Rousey – Miesha Tate will not take place on the same card, however.
So, there you have it. You can start planning your Aldo-McGregor viewing party, although you might want to knock on wood every time you do so…
Aldo and McGregor were originally set to fight at UFC 189 on July 11th. The featherweight champ Aldo, however, had to withdraw due to a rib injury. McGregor faced replacement Chad Mendes instead, and secured the interim title by stopping him late in round two.
