Ronda Rousey recently said that her mother “chewed” her out, after saying she wants to beat up Bethe Correia for a prolonged period of time, and apparently the latter’s mom also wants a quick finish…(yes, except she wants “Pitbull” to be doing the finishing).
Rousey and Correia have quite a rivalry going heading into their UFC 190 scrap, and thus, this is why the bantamweight champ says she wants to punish the contender. Rousey’s mother, AnnMarie De Mars , believes such a strategy is “stupid”, since it gives Correia more time and more chances to win the bout.
Well, Correia was asked about the situation and De Mars’ comments at the card’s media day, and here is some of what she had to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“My mother told me the same thing. ‘Please, finish this fight in 10 seconds. Knock her out, break her jaw’,” Correia said. “It’s a mom thing. No mom wants to see a daughter get beat up, get hurt, and Ronda’s mom thinks about it. It’s easier to go for a takedown and lock an armbar, you don’t get hurt. My mom wants me to go there, throw the first punch, Ronda goes down, and I go back to her arms. It’s normal.”
Yup. It’s not surprising to hear that a mother wants to see her daughter spend as little time in the Octagon as possible. Especially when that daughter is about to fight the greatest female fighter the sport has ever known.
UFC 190 will go down at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. In the co-headliner, “Shogun” Rua will take on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
