Ronda Rousey Says Retirement Could Come After “Beating The Crap Out of Cris “Cyborg””

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey has said in the past that she doesn’t intend to fight for many more years, and the UFC champ recently repeated that sentiment during a media scrum to promote UFC 190.

Rousey is preparing to face Bethe Correia at the August 1st event, which will mark the first time the bantamweight’s fought since February, when she tapped Cat Zingano. If Rousey defeats Correia, then she’ll take another step forward to a mega fight with Cris “Cyborg” Justino, provided the latter can make 135.

Well, Rousey was asked about her future during the aformentioned media event, and here is some of what the 28 year-old had to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I have this idea in my mind that my final fight would be just beating the crap out of Cris Cyborg and then when [UFC president] Dana [White] puts the belt on me the last time, I can take it off and hand it back to him,” Rousey said.

How about that? Now sure, it remains to be seen if Justino can make the cut to bantamweight and if that fight happens at all. But, considering “Cyborg” hopes to compete at 135 later this year, an all-star bout with Rousey could be booked for sometime in 2016. Yes, if things play out like Rousey envisions / hopes, she could be hanging up the gloves before she turns 30.

If that happens, a lot of folks, and UFC brass, will be disappointed, but why not right? Rousey is already a huge star, who’s landing acting gigs, big endorsements etc, so why not retire undefeated and when you’re on top?
