Things have been going rather swimmingly in the Octagon for Frank Mir as of late, but recently the former UFC champ said he’d like to return to broadcasting, which he did during the days of the WEC.

Following Mir’s jaw dropping, KO win over Todd Duffee last week, Mir relayed to MMA Fighting.com that he’s approached Dana White about doing more commentating. Mir was asked to reflect on his broadcasting days with the WEC, which produced stars like Benson Henderson, Donald Cerrone, and Anthony Pettis, among many others.

When asked whose debut stood out in particular, Mir proceeded to heap praise on reigning featherweight champ, Jose Aldo.

“Different level,” Mir said about the Brazilian star. “That guy was on a different level. I saw that the first time he started moving around…”

“We’re down in Florida and they’re sitting there, and I grabbed one of the powers that be and went, ‘That’s your future champ. I think we should interview him regardless of how difficult it is.’ I called that the first time I’d ever saw him move.”

Yup, Aldo certainly turned heads during his run with the WEC, which saw him defeat the likes of Urijah Faber, Cub Swanson, Mike Brown and Jonathan Brookins among others.

Since arriving in the UFC in 2011, Aldo’s gone on to win seven more straight fights, and has defeated most of the division’s top fighters, except for interim champ, Conor McGregor…

There is still no word when that massive fight will go down, but it looks as though Aldo-McGregor could get booked for late fall, early winter.
