The UFC’s ridiculously busy summer continues, as following this coming Saturday’s UFC on FOX 16 card in Chicago, the promotion heads to Rio de Janeiro for UFC 190.
The latter will be headlined by a bantamweight fight between champion Ronda Rousey and Bethe Correia, and a pretty, sizeable beef is now tied to the scrap. Correia campaigned hard for a title shot, not only by taking out Rousey’s friends in Jessamyne Duke and Shayna Baszler, but by trashing the champ verbally. Some of the comments, Rousey believes, were way out of line, and in the extended preview both women weigh-in on what’s been said.
The preview also dives into the co-healdiner, which will see Brazilian stars “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira throw down. The light-heavyweights fought ten years ago at PRIDE Critical Countdown 2005, and the fight is widely considered to be one of the promotion’s best ever. Rua won the bout via unanimous decision.
You can catch the extender preview below. UFC 190 will go down at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro on August 1st.
