Last night we reported that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua had signed a 2 fight deal with the UFC and a 2 fight deal with PRIDE. More news has come out today making the situation no clearer.

First came news earlier today from a Sherdog.com radio show that Rua had signed a unique deal allowing him two fights in the UFC and two in PRIDE which also furthered rumors of the purchase of PRIDE by the Fertitta brothers. This story seemingy confirmed the signing until All About MMA reported that they had spoken to Rua who denied his signing with the UFC. Here is the information from their report:

“After a brief telephone conversation with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua today, we can inform you that he has denied all rumors that he has signed with the UFC and confirmed to All About MMA’s Brazilian correspondant that he instead took advantage of Pride President Nobuhiko Sakakibara’s visit to Curitiba and has in fact signed a new four fight deal with Pride.”

So that leaves us wondering what the hell is going on. Some outlets are reporting his signing while others are only saying he signed with PRIDE. Hopes are that these rumors as well as rumors of the Fertitta’s purchase of PRIDE should be cleared up in the coming days.
