Michael Bisping has never gotten over his crushing, KO loss to Dan Henderson, and now that the legend is no longer on TRT, “The Count” wants a rematch more than ever…
Bisping and Henderson fought at UFC 100 back in 2009, and the latter ended the fight with a booming right hand, and then added in one more. The knockout has become a fixture on highlight reels since, and chances are you’ve seen footage of the fight ending blows a bazillion times.
Well, yesterday at UFC Fight Night 72, Bisping worked his way to a tightly contested, split decision win over Thales Leites. Following the Glasgow event, Bisping was asked about his short term future, and who he wants to fight next. The brash, British fighter proceeded to say he wants rematches with both Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson, since both men hold stoppage wins over him, and both are former TRT users.
Bisping, who has been an outspoken critic of TRT use for sometime, proceeded to trash Belfort. The middleweight argued that Belfort looked like “The Incredible Hulk” when they fought back in 2013, but that the latter resembled a “an out of shape, middle aged man” when he faced Chris Weidman. Bisping has blasted Belfort many times in the past, but while discussing Henderson, here is some of what he had to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“God bless him, he’s had a great career, but he was on testosterone replacement therapy when we fought,” Bisping said. “And the amount of testosterone they were allowed to legally have in their system was just ridiculous and there’s a reason why it’s been outlawed. They used to say, ‘Oh, I have to have testosterone replacement therapy otherwise I couldn’t fight.’ Well, now it’s banned and they’re still fighting, so did they need or they didn’t need it? Well, the fact is they didn’t need it. They were cheating. They were manipulating the system.”
There you have it. Now it’s worth noting that Henderson has stated that he believes Belfort was doing something different, in terms of their respective TRT use, and also cited how much the latter’s physical appearance has changed.
Will the UFC look at booking Bisping-Henderson II or Bisping-Belfort II? Possibly. One would think both fights would draw quite well, not only because of the careers all of these guys have had, but because Bisping is one of the best trash talkers in the game.
