Bisping, Kang, Siver, and Etim Earn UFC 105 Bonuses

Michael BispingMichael Bisping, Denis Kang, Dennis Siver, and Terry Etim each earned $40,000 “fight night” bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC 105 event in Manchester, England.

Bisping and Kang clashed on the Spike TV-televised main card, with Kang taking the first round before Bisping recovered to score a second-round knockout and “Fight of the Night” honors for the pair.

Siver picked up “Knockout of the Night” for his second-round spinning back kick knockout of Paul Kelly on the UFC 105 preliminary card, while “Submission of the Night” went to Etim for his second-round guillotine choke of Shannon Gugerty on the unaired undercard.

UFC 105, which was headlined by Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera, drew a European-record attendance of 16,693, generating a live gate of more than $2 million.

Fighter salaries and medical suspensions will not be available for UFC 105 due to the absence of athletic commissions in the UK.

Bisping earned it. He displayed awesome guts during this fight

I’m no bisping fan, but you are right he earned it. To get rocked like he did in the first round, and still come out just as confident if not more in the second. A good show of heart on his part(ha that rhymed) :)

IF KANG GAVE HIM THIS MUCH TROUBLE HE’S LUCKY HE DIDN’T FIGHT A TOP CONTENDER LIKE HE SAID HE WANTED.

I don’t know that Kang gave him much trouble. He pretty much just laid on him for the first round. Bisping was never in danger. In fact, he had two good submission attempts from the bottom.

On the whole, Kang looks very unimpressive and overhyped since he came to the UFC while Bisping seems to be like a sponge, sucking up everything he can….even from his loss. I know he’s not well liked here, but he looked nothing short of impressive. And if his ground defense keeps improving, he’s only going to get better.

First, let me say that while I’m glad Bisping got the recognition for a good fight, the REAL FoTN was Brown-Wilks. Also, I never got the impression, in spite of the Rogan hype machine cranked into hyperdrive, that Kang ever really posed any serious danger to Bisping.
And I’m no fan of Bisping’s.

What really impressed me was Bisping’s wrestling and BJJ, and particularly his takedowns and hip escapes when Kang had top position.
Many times in the past I’ve commented, none too positively, regarding UK and Euro-fighters’ lack of wrestling and/or BJJ skill, and how IMO thats what holds them back when they get into the caged environment of the UFC.
Yes, these types of fighters are almost always well-schooled in Thai boxing, kickboxing, Western boxing, etc, but when the fight hits the ground, it’s all over save for the tapping or the ref wave-off from excessive gNp.
ESPECIALLY when they step in against a Brazilian or a NCAA All-American wrestler.

Bisping, however, really seems to have taken to heart the concept of true MIXED martial arts, and is developing a respectable ground game to go with his excellent stand-up.
His over-the-top wanker attitude is slowly giving way to a respectful winner’s attitude, and the future looks awfully bright for a young guy who not only has his country behind him, but the UFC as well…

wish they had showed the spinning back kick ko sounds like itd b sick

  • animosity says:

No way that Bisping/Kang deserved FON instead of Brown/Wilks that was a war.

Why wouldn’t they show a spinning back kick KO that almost never happens?
I guess we can pay a couple bucks and watch it in the UFC vault. That blows!!!

  • RJA says:

Not a bisping fan,but he was definitely impressive with his work on the ground defense in the 1rst and his tenasity in the 2nd.I thought we were going to see another hendo like ko.Must be the hair :)

i agree with those that say this was bisping’s best so far.

Kang is not well known but is heavy handed and experianced and well rounded too – a tough opponent by any stretch
