“Money” was able to take McGregor down several times, and certainly appeared to be in control from the top, before going for a choke late in round two. At that point, McGregor escaped, poured on the strikes, and secured the interim featherweight belt.
After the memorable fight, Mendes spoke with the UFC’s Megan Olivi, and relayed that fatigue played a deciding role in the loss. Mendes also had some interesting things to say about the power of McGregor, by noting he has teammates at Team Alpha Male who hit harder….
