sooooo. Cung Lee decides to relinquish the belt, so that he can return to action 3 months later? Now there is a fighter with a head on his shoulders.

And I gotta say, Scott Smith must be just loving strike force atm, because they love the death outta him. He does leave it all in the cage, that is for sure, but sub-par at best. I think Cung makes short work of him.

I think they said on the Saturday night broadcast that his movie got moved back last minute, and he wanted to stay sharp.

And yeah, they sure do seem to love Scott Smith…he still had the best punch ever against Pete Sell.

  • Since Cung Le has been a way for a while i think that for sure it will play a role in this fight. He’s going to have some cage rust and quite frankly, a long layoff such as the one he took will affect any fighter on their combcak fight.

I don’t think that Le is going to beat Scott Smith so easy simply because Smith has decent stand-up and power. The difference is that Le uses kciks and Smith does not. Le also doesn’t have a great ground game and neither does Smith but Smith has a huge heart and the guy has shown that when he comes into fights in decent shape he can be pretty tough,Le on the other hand tends to kinda gas in the later rounds which can possibly effect his performance being that he’s already going to have to deal with cage rust.

I know Cung Le is a very good striker but he’s not a great all around MMA fighter and i honestly think that Smith can pull off the upset and bring new life to his fading career with a win over someone like Le who IMO is flirting with being overrated because he’s not THAT great of a striker if you ask me.

I’m gonna go ahead and pick Smith via decision

    Huh?
    Did someone say Fedor?
My cell chirped to let me know that his name was posted on another frenZy thread again.
    :P

Seriously, I have to believe that Cung Le is a bit p!ssed off with the Hollywood studio establishment. A few years ago I used to go out with a chick who was seriously into all sorts of movies, how they got made, who produced and directed what films for which studios, and on and on.
In their world, they think nothing of pushing back films 6-9-12 months or more, and leaving even established box office draws like George Clooney and Brad Pitt hanging.
So its no surprise that their a$$-hatted timing swerved Le, and circumstantially cost him the 185 title.
Unfortunately for him, the title now is worn by Strikeforce’s version of Jay Heiron, and its awfully tough to defeat someone with a ground game that seems entirely predicated on “grope and hope”, or “lay and pray”, or “fall and stall”, or whatever else you want to call it.

I would love to pick Scott Smith in this fight, but common sense tells me that as good a stand-up fighter as Smith is, he’s not the “master of san shou”, so he’s probably going to get T/KO’ed as soon as Le gets his cage bearings, which should be late second round…

I’m looking foward to this one.Although not sure which way i want it to go.A year ago i would have been going for Le,but now i don’t no.Smith still seems very passionate about fighting, and you just can’t say the same for cung.I just don’t want to see Le come back just to give smith another set back and then go on another hiatis.

  • vnmma says:

I doubt that Le is going to fight with Jake Shields any time soon. Leaving Jake continues barking for Le and it is irritating me as being Le’s fan.

As Le has stated in some video I saw in youtube, his interest is only to fight in between his movies career and not tittle fight due to not able to defend it promptly.

And if Le won the belt and let it hanging again, it wouldn’t be good for Strike Force. Coker wouldn’t let it happening.
