UFC 78: Spencer Fisher vs. Frank Edgar
Spencer “The King” Fisher will return to the octagon in November to take on Frank Edgar at UFC 78.
Fisher was to fight this month at UFC Fight Night 11 against Din Thomas but was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a staph infection. He holds a very impressive 20-3 record and is regarded as one of the top lightweight fighters in the UFC. Fisher lost to Hermes Franca in January but rebounded by defeating Sam Stout at UFC Fight Night 10 in June.
Edgar is undefeated in his MMA career with 7 wins. After 5 consecutive wins outside of the UFC Edgar made his octagon debut at UFC 67 defeating Tyson Griffin via unanimous decision. He returned to the UFC in July defeating Mark Bocek by TKO. Edgar is considered a rising fighter in the lightweight division but needs wins over other top talent before being considered a legitimate contender. A win over Fisher and another win in early 2008 could set Edgar up for a chance at the lightweight title sometime next year.

spencer is going to roll edgar. lets see fisher vs wiman 2… then put the winner against din thomas (who is going to kill florian) then make the winner fight bj penn after he decimates sean sherk for lw title… my bet is matt wiman vs bj penn… penn would roll wiman.
This UFC card sucks. Especially heading into the NJ and NY area, they need to make this stacked. Only reason I would order it is for Karo. This more seems like a Ultimate Fight Night card not a PPV.

I was super impressed with Spencers hands in Stout II. He was just in a a totally different world. Frankie better not even try to stay up at all.

I would still like to see Fisher fight Din Thomas. That would be a great fight. I think Florian is a little bit under-rated. The kid has skills,.And where did all these Matt Wiman groupies come from?
Wiman?? hahaha. Thats just funny. Wiman would prolly lose to Wayne Weems. haha. Not even close to the caliber fighter as Fisher. Fisher is the best LW in the UFC, well…. maybe after BJ….but that would be a fight!
They're really throwing Edgar to the wolves. Does anyone really think he stands a chance against Fisher. They should let him work his way up to a match like this.
At least his got the "Penn would roll Wiman" part right. Wiman hasn't shown anything yet imo.
This is a tougher fight for Spencer than it would have been if he fought Din Thomas. Edgar is on joke; the guy beat Tyson Griffin! I still think Fisher will win though.
I agree with FixXwr that Fisher might be the best Lightweight fighter in the UFC. Especially if BJ (which I hope he does) moves up in weight. I think they should give Fisher a shot at the title. Even if Sherk doesn't get stripped of the belt, I think Fisher has a good chance at taking him.
I think Din is tough but I think Edgar still has a lot to prove. I am not saing he isn't a good fighter (I think he is) but he only has 7 MMA wins which I don't think is enough to effectively determine just how good someone is or is going to be. He's good but this should be a good fight.
I should also add that this fight has only been offered and is not yet official.

aparantly you guys didnt see fisher vs wiman.. it was a good fight, but round 2 fisher hit wiman with a flying knee on a take down attempt
who cares how good edger is!he has not seen any thing like the king,no worries! someone needs to get edgar a toe tag!
just watched spencer lose.recorded.but next time he will need that tag.
