UFC FN 70: Lorenz Larkin Likes to Fight, But Would Prefer to Avoid Plane Ride There…

Lorenz Larkin

Lorenz Larkin clearly doesn’t have a problem with engaging in an unarmed combat, in a cage, but the fighter is admittedly scared of taking flights to said fights…

Larken is set to battle Santiago Ponzinibbio on Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 70, in what will be his 20th, pro MMA bout. While speaking to UFC.com recently about the upcoming fight, however, Larkin relayed the following about flying:

“I hate it,” Larkin said. “I absolutely hate it. I’ll tell you what the biggest problem of my camp is – the flight. That’s the biggest thing. I’ve had my manager calling me telling me it’s going to be all right. I don’t know about the other guys in the UFC, but I hate flying. The Boston fight was the farthest flight for me. That was like five hours and that was horrible. My first fight in the UFC, they gave me the option of fighting in Brazil or San Jose and I was like San Jose because it was a 45-minute flight. I hate flying with a passion. I try not to think about it too much. I don’t know, man. My gym is kind of near an airport, so on the way to the gym I’ll see planes landing and I’m just like ‘ugh’. I hate flying.”

Now considering Larkin lives in California, and that UFC FN 70 is being held in Hollywood, Florida, the welterweight had to take a fairly long flight out. But, compared to how long his flight would have been if the event was overseas, like say Australia, Larkin got off easy…

All this aside, Larkin is coming off a stoppage win over John Howard in January, which was his first bout at 170. The win ended the former middleweight’s three fight losing streak.

UFC FN 70 will be hosted by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. In the main event, Lyoto Machida will take on fellow middleweight contender, Yoel Romero.
