Bellator’s “King Mo” Lawal Explains Why Media Can Copy-And-Paste His Quotes

King Mo Lawal

Recently Bellator announced that “King Mo” Lawal is going to compete in the promotion’s upcoming, light-heavyweight tourney, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to have much to say about it…

If you missed it, on Friday, the promotion announced that it’s September 19th, “Dynamite” card in San Jose, is going to feature a one night, 205 tourney. The competitors are going to include Emanuel Newton, Phil Davis, Linton Vassell, and Lawal. Who is going to fight who in the opening round, however, has yet to be announced.

Well, Lawal was on hand to be part of the announcement, and while speaking to MMA Junkie.com afterwards, he had this to say about pre-fight interviews.

“The thing is, what are they going to ask me? The same questions you’re all going to ask me now?” Lawal said. “If people want, they can just paste and copy my quotes.”

“As far as the tournament, there’s nothing to talk about,” Lawal added. “I won’t know what’s going on until weigh-ins – because we don’t know who’s fighting who. We don’t know nothing…”

Now, hopefully, and for Bellator’s sake, this doesn’t come to pass, as Lawal is a fantastic interview and definitely has a knack for making headline grabbing comments. To be fair, the 34 year-old did say he’d be happy to talk to the media about other fights, boxing, wrestling etc, so he’s not saying he won’t do any interviews period…

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see who fights who in the tourney’s opening round. Since Lawal has already fought Newton twice, and lost both times, you would think that fight won’t be taking place in the opening bracket.

“Dynamite” will be headlined by a light-heavyweight fight between champion Liam McGeary and Tito Ortiz.
