Heading into UFC Fight Night 69, most people understood that Joanna Jedrzejczyk was a very talented and dangerous fighter, but following her latest victory, the buzz tied to the strawweight champ is much, much bigger.

If you watched yesterday’s card, then you saw Jedrzejczyk stuff numerous take down attempts from Jessica Penne, and her brutalizing the BJJ black belt with combos. Finally, as round three approached it’s end, the referee jumped into rescue the bloodied Penne from further punishment. The victory followed Jedrzejczyk’s one sided, KO win over Carla Esparza in March, when she took the strawweight belt.

While Jedrzejczyk still has a  ways to go before her run mirrors the dominant reign of bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey, people are already drawing comparisons. At the post-fight, UFC FN 69 presser yesterday, the decorated kickboxer and Polish fighter had this to say about “Rowdy” (comment via MMA Junkie.com):

“I follow Ronda,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I’m a big fan of her. She’s simply the best for me. I want to be Ronda Rousey in the strawweight division. But I’m J.J., J.J. Champion.”

How about that? And if you missed, check out what Rousey had to say about the strawweight champ on Twitter:

Now it will be interesting to see who JJ fights next. The 27 year-old has now defeated the top three ranked contenders at 115 (the champ decisioned Claudia Gadelha last December, who is ranked #2).

Rousey, meanwhile, is set to fight Bethe Correia at UFC 190 on August 1st. The fight will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
