Kimbo Slice needed less than three minutes to finish Ken Shamrock tonight at Bellator 138, but the heavyweight had to battle through a tough spot in order to do it.
Shortly into the headliner, Shamrock took Slice to the mat with ease, and quickly moved to the heavyweight’s back. Shamrock appeared to have a rear-naked-choke sunk in, but Slice refused to tap, and worked his way out.
Having got back to his feet, Slice quickly blasted Shamrock a couple of punishing shots, which sent the legend to the floor. Referee “Big” John McCarthy had seen enough, and jumped in to stop the fight.
The main card also featured Bellator’s featherweight champ Patricio “Pitbull” in action, and he also recorded a come from behind win.
Challenger Daniel Weichel hurt Weichel badly with a right hand and a vicious knee to the head, right before the opening round ended. It was so close, in fact, that Weichel briefly thought he had won the fight (as McCarthy had intervened because the round was over).
“Pitbull” was clearly still hurt as round two began, but as Weichel stormed in, the champ finished him off with a booming left hand.
In “Pitbull’s” last bout in January, he came from behind to submit Daniel Straus with a fourth round, rear-naked-choke. Straus also fought on Friday and tapped out Henry Corrales in round two.
