Mirko “Crop Cop” Says Junior dos Santos, Alistair Overeem Among Fighters He’d Like to Fight Again

It remains to be seen who Mirko “Cro Cop” will fight next, but after he avenged a previous loss to Gabriel Gonzaga in April, clearly the heavyweight wants to capture that feeling again.

“Crop Cop” faced Gonzaga for a second time at UFC Fight Night 64, after he was taken out by the latter with a thundering head kick in 2007 (the highlight of which has been viewed a bazillion times). Most people believed that Gonzaga was going to defeat the legendary fighter again, but “Cro Cop” came from behind and put away the vet with a vicious flurry of elbows.

Well, recently “Cro Cop” spoke to his official site, and the 40 year-old Croatian relayed he wants to avenge more of his defeats (translate via MMA Fighting.com):

“This is something I really want to do,” said “Cro Cop”. “It’s something I owe to the sport and I owe it to myself to beat some of those guys…”

“But [Antonio Rodrigo] Nogueira is definitely there, Roy Nelson is definitely there, and some other fighters,” added “Cro Cop”, after noting he’s not interested in facing Josh Barnett again, since he holds three wins over the heavyweight. “Junior dos Santos is definitely there. And perhaps [Alistair] Overeem too.”

It’s interesting to hear “Cro Cop” say this, and chances are, a lot of people will respect him for it. But, are any of these fights possibilities at this juncture? Since JDS, Nelson and Overeem are all top 15 ranked fighters, then they might not be interested in facing “Cro Cop” again.

But, if  Nogueira defeats Stefan Struve on August 1st, maybe he’d be interested in facing “Cro Cop” one more time? The two fought way back in 2003 for PRIDE, and “Big Nog” won the memorable bout via a second round, armbar.
