Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira have their next fights, as the UFC has announced that the two will throw down on August 23rd. The featherweight scrap will headline a newly announced event in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, which will mark the first time the UFC has held an event in the Canadian city.

Holloway (13-3), as you know, has been bombing his way up the featherweight rankings in recent months, as the Hawaiian fighter has won six straight. Since Holloway was stopped by Conor McGregor back in August, 2013, “Blessed” has defeated Will Chope, Andre Fili, Clay Collard, Akira Corassani, Cole Miller, and most recently Cub Swanson.

The last victory, which Holloway secured by tapping out Swanson with a third round, guillotine choke, moved him into the #5 ranking at 145. Five of Holloway’s wins during that time have been via stoppage.

Oliveira (20-4) hasn’t won six in a row, but “do Bronx” is riding a four fight win streak and has also looked very impressive while doing so. Since Oliveira dropped consecutive fights to Swanson and Frankie Edgar, he’s defeated Andy Ogle, Hatsu Hioki, Jeremy Stephens and Nik Lentz. Three of those victories have come via submission, and one–against Stephens–was by decision. Oliveira is ranked #7 in the UFC’s featherweight division.

So, that’s a pretty important and promising featherweight fight that fans in Saskatchewan will get to see. The winner will almost certainly move into a bout with top five contender, and if they can win that, a title shot could be waiting.

Following his win over Swanson, Holloway relayed that he’d love to rematch McGregor, and depending on what goes down in the coming months it could happen. You never know right? The latter, of course, is set to fight champion Jose Aldo on July 11th.

The August 23rd, Fight Night card will be hosted by Saskatoon’s┬áSaskTel Centre. No other bouts have been announced yet for the card, but chances are, it will feature quite a few Canadian fighters.
