Todd DuffeeHeavyweight prospect Todd Duffee (6-0), who earned a UFC-record 7-second knockout of Tim Hague in August in his UFC debut, has been forced with withdraw from his UFC 107 matchup with a returning Paul Buentello due to an undisclosed injury.

Duffee confirmed the withdrawal on Tuesday with Sherdog, which also spoke to Buentello, who says Stefan Struve and Mike Russow have been proposed as potential opponents for the main card fight.

I think its to give him a bigger fight at 108 or 109. Like velasquez or Nog.
might sound crazy but thats what i see happening.

    Bummer that he’s out.

    Carls,
Buentello is a pretty big fight actually.

Buentello’s no joke. He’s only lost twice in the last 6 years, once for the UFC HW title, and once for the Strikeforce HW title (why did the UFC let him go in the first place????). In his last fight he took mini Fedor to a striking clinic.

My one complaint about Paul as a fan of striking is that he doesn’t go for the finish, but instead focuses on winning the fight with as little damage done to himslef as possible, leading him to take less risks. Kind of hypocritical, but whatever.

Also, I was among the first on the Duffee bandwagon, so don’t nobody forget it!!!!

    Jesus.
Again I reiterate my theory about Dana White offending some old gypsy woman out on the Strip, and thus she cursed the entire UFC with the injury hex.
    ;)

And not to disrespect Paul Buentello, but I’m thinking that Dana is trying to raise up a new crop of shiny new super HWs to dominate the MMA landscape and someday challange Brock Lesnar, and Duffee’s injury might give Dana and Joe Silva a chance to re-think Duffee’s next opponent, possibly someone more high-profile that Buentello.
Maybe someone left without a dance partner first at 106 and now possibly at 108, like Shane Carwin?
Plus Buentello isn’t exactly “new” or “shiny”, but rather from an unkind POV a UFC re-tread.
Also, I wouldn’t suggest it, but some might find the timing of Duffee’s injury odd given that its looking like Brock Lesnar might not be recovered in time for 108.

    Just a thought…

This is retribution for the horrible Rua/Machida decision. Prepare for the wrath!!!!!
