• Popular featherweight Urijah Faber, sidelined since a June loss to Mike Brown due to a broken hand, will square off with Raphael Assuncao at WEC 46 on January 10 in Sacramento, California.
• Despite losing four-straight and six of his last seven, veteran Jens Pulver will return to featherweight action in the WEC cage in early-2010.
• A bantamweight matchup between Scott Jorgensen and Takeya Mizugaki was announced on Friday for WEC 45 on December 19 in Las Vegas, while Erik Koch vs. Jameel Massouh, Bart Palazewski vs. Anthony Pettis, Muhsin Corbbrey vs. Zack Micklewright, and Tyler Toner vs. Brandon Visher were also recently reported for the card.
• Featherweight prospect Chad Mendes (5-0), a teammate of Urijah Faber, has signed a multi-fight deal with the WEC and will debut for the promotion in early-2010.
• Featherweight contender Josh Grispi will be sidelined for several months after recently undergoing surgery on his ankle.
