UFC 188 is one week away, and at the event, fans will see Kelvin Gastelum compete at 185 once again.
If you recall, Gastelum fought at that weight throughout TUF 17, and decisioned Uriah Hall in 2013 to win the competition. Gastelum elected to drop to welterweight, however, and went on to crack the division’s top ten by winning four straight. One of those wins, and likely the most impressive, took place last November when he tapped Jake Ellenberger in the opening round.
You can watch the memorable bout below.
If you follow Gastelum, however, then you also know he had trouble making 170. After coming in way over for his fight with Tyron Woodley in January, which he lost via split decision, the UFC insisted Gastelum move to 185.
At the Mexico City bound, UFC 188, he’ll battle veteran Nate Marquardt.
