im gonna say matrione gets picked and loses to big baby marcus. thats my prediction for the evening

  • garrule says:

    wow…Junk is one scary dude.

  • Michael T says:

it was liking watching zombies or something – very strange – not sure it was the strangest fight I’ve ever seen but if not it’s certainly up there.

  • Junger says:

It seems like the cardio of most everyone on the show this year is just terrible. It makes you wonder what they are doing all week training.

    • Michael T says:

that’s exactly what I was thinking – how many weeks and what no cardio – you’d think the guys who have not fought would have stellar cardio by now but I guess not. Are they drinking every night or something – no sleep due to stress night before maybe..who knows.

      • Justin H says:

The taping for the whole show is only six weeks long, and some of these fights happened on the same day. There is not really enough time for these guys to really build up their cardio before their first fight. The only way they could have any for their first fight, is if they had it when they showed up for the show in the first place. Second and third fights I would expect them to have time to make some difference, but not that big of a difference in their cardio.

      • Michael T says:

        thanks for the 411 Justin

  • Justin H says:

Another week of TUF, another terrible fight, and more pointless arguing over a fight that’s not going to happen. Worst. Season. Ever.

    • Markus J says:

You hit the nail on the head, Justin.

This is just plain awful. By far the worst season ever of TUF.

And what was with the previews last week of Dana hyping tonight’s fight as the best one this season and why was he so excited during it?

    • jcohl says:

      Jesus.
I can’t even use my trusty “another week” thing, because Justin H beat me to it.
      ;)
I’ve seen Scott Junk fight out in Hawaii, and trust me when I tell you I’ve never seen him look worse. I don’t know if he was sick, hungover, or has just plain half-a$$ed it in TUF training, but he probably should have gotten the decision, or at the very least it should have went to a third round.
Another “another” to add to this week’s post is another shady example of judges scoring, but in this case it’s not like either man did enough to win the fight, and in Junk’s case he probably knows it.
I scored the fight 1 round a piece for the record…

      • Justin H says:

I could see the fight going to a third round, but thank goodness it didn’t that would have been painful. I also think that Mitrione did enough to win, that it not going to a draw isn’t really a big deal to me. He landed far more shots on the feet in both rounds, and only spent a little time on his back, during which Junk did very little.

      • Nbm05 says:

The second round could have gone either way with niether guy accomplishing much — Mitione landed more punches, Junk got the takedown, they both were throwing to about the same effect when the fight was on the ground — but the first round I thought was definitely for Mitrione. Both guys landed big punches, but Junk went down three times while Mitrione never went down. Junk also looked out of it during the middle part of the first round. Both guys still gassed incredibly fast, but I thought Mitrione won. I didn’t get Dana’s excitement after the first round, but that’d just me.

  • nickageb says:

^agreed jcohl but i wasnt exactly mad at the dec tho it seemed a lil silly, and what was up withdana sayin “now thats a good fight!!”? It was a somewhat exciting fight but it was a LONG way from a good fight both guys looked horrible

  • bsbiz says:

Oh good Good that was quite possibly the worst fight I have ever seen. I was watching it just praying “If there is a God at all anywhere who speaks enough English to understand this prayer, let someone win this fight so I don’t have to watch these two gassed fighters go another five minutes. I can’t tolerate it, and no one else wants it. If this prayer goes unanswered, I will be forced to poke my eyes out with a fork, and I haven’t done dishes in a couple days which could lead to a nasty infection, which wouldn’t be good. Kinda like this fight. Did I mention it would be great, whichever God may or may not be listening to me, if there would not be a third round? Because these guys are more likely to knock themselves out after swinging, missing, and hitting their face into the canvas than catching a love tap from the other guy? Are you there, God? It’s me, Bsbiz. I’m not asking for much… Just an end to this $@#^ing fight.”

And fortunately, my prayer was answered.

  • L4E1X5 says:

Terrible fight, but I think it should of went to a third round!

  • huertarogerhuerta says:

i may b the only one but i pretty much use the ultimate fighter as backround noise this season. i have it on while i read

  • donzerelli says:

Usually I can’t stand having knucklehead hotheads like Junie Browning on the show, but this season needs SOMETHING. So boring, crappy fights. And what upper is Dana White on? Saying that was a great fight and getting all pumped about it.
Sad thing is I really thought Junk was going to be tough. He was useless. Absolutely no 3rd round needed. Although it would have been better and made more sense if ALL the judges called it a draw for the SUCK factor.

  • GarRule says:

If Roy Nelson isn’t licking his chops at this point…he must think he has this in the bag. These guys all seem unprepared.

A point I’d like to make about the promotion of this show…

Dana has a very valuable commodity as a promoter…that’s his word. He, in my opinion, has always come across as honest to me. At least as far as being open about behind the scenes things like contract negotiations, things like that. He always says things in interviews like “guys, if it wasn’t that way you know I’d tell you”.

This season has been the exact opposite of what I expected. Maybe in his pre-season hype, he said this would be a great season for reasons other than the fights…maybe when it was all filmed he thought he had a great “reality show” in the can. Conflict between fighters, coaches…people ratting each other out and talking smack…

Maybe the casual fan thinks this has been a great season because of the sub-plots and tension. I don’t. These have been the WORST fights I can EVER remember…and I go back to UFC 3. Not TUF Season 3…I’m talking Tank Abbot punching that dude so hard he hit the ground and quivered for ten minutes.

Anyway, my point is that if Dana hyped this up to be so great (and it’s obviously not!) who knows if we can believe him when he hypes up next season…or anything else for that matter.

    • ckdiesel says:

i think that when it all boils down he is trying to get everyone to watch the bickering between rashad and quinton in order to get everyone to buy the PPV. but just as rashad said last night, quinton doesnt want to fight.. not saying that hes a quitter, just sayin.. and now that the PPV is not happening, anyone notice how dana hasnt been so vocal about the show?

i will give the benefit of the doubt to brendon shaub and justin wren. i did enjoy their fights. but the rest of them have been the same garbo.

  • justin Thoms says:

Wow my dvr like cut off the last part of the show. This fight started off like wow ! but damn did it go down hill. Maybe I shouldnt be to upset I didn’t see the end.

  • digyourownhole says:

I agree with Gar. Im used to Dana calling a bad fight a bad fight. I wonder if they edited him in from another fight becaused he was just too happy about a total craptacular fight.

The best fight of the night was Rampage vs. The Door. I thought for sure the door was gonna take him but Rampage (true to his name) was too much for The Door. I thought for sure The Door was gonna take it to the ground and submit him.

  • southcakalak says:

this season would have been great for no other reason than the rampage rashad fight, but knowing what we know, it sucks all the intensity out of it…with that being said, that cabbage/tank fight funny

  • GarRule says:

Actually that Tank Abbot fight might have been UFC 6 vs. John Mattua.

  • southcakalak says:

Lol, I was comparing the tuf fight to a cabbage vs tank fight

  • Chris says:

Best fight of the season was Rampage against the door. He killed that thing.

  • jcohl says:

Really good point made by GarRule about Dana’s cred as a promoter.
When you consider all that Dana has done for MMA and the UFC, I’m sure in retrospect he’ll be forgiven and his undue hype forgotten for TUF 10.
    This time.
If this sort of thing happens more than once, fans are going to think twice or maybe even 3 times before investing time [and money] into UFC offerings, whether they be TUF, UFN’s, or PPVs.

Also, in all fairness, we haven’t seen the entire season yet, so maybe some decent fights are coming in the quarterfinals, but somehow I doubt it.
If a really promising young HW like Demico Rogers doesn’t advance, then whats the point of watching Roy Nelson use his experience edge and ample midsection to “oopma-loompa” his way to the semis and finals?

    • digyourownhole says:

It is a very sad sentiment though when anyone can just “oompa-loompa” their way into the UFC though. Sadly though, you are probably right on the money.

      • jcohl says:

Believe me, dig, its not a situation I’m happy with.
This season featured a few promising HWs, such as Demico Rogers, Brendan Schaub, and James McSweeney, the latter 2 coming from the Greg Jackson camp.
Kimbo is as Kimbo does, and his MMA credentials, or lack thereof, have been discussed to death. Dana has signed him to fight based on his celebrity, and his winning attitude towards learning MMA.
Kimbo is AT LEAST a year away from being ready for any serious competition, but we’ll see what we see.

IMO only Schaub hasn’t looked like he’s totally out of his element, but its hard to determine when Rogers offered such limited opposition. McSweeney looks to me like yet another Euro-trained kickboxer type thats going to be completely overwhelmed by the first All-American wrestler he faces in the cage.
Not to be overly harsh, but I’ve seen guys like Schoonover, Madsen, and Matrione throwdown at small shows. They’re big, they can be entertaining, but ultimately their lack of cardio and well-roundedness relegate them to perpetual minor league status.
Justin Wren seems to be somewhat skilled, but he’s really looks to me like a 205er before his weight cut.

And then there is Roy Nelson.
In this crowd Nelson stands out, but if he were to win TUF and the contract, I’m thinking he won’t do too well, unless maybe Dana gives him some real easy fights.
If you’ve seen some of the video posted here, it doesn’t seem like Dana thinks too highly of Nelson, unless its all some sort of trick to hide the fact that he won the contract.
Nelson MAY be able to hang with guys like Rothwell and Heath Herring, if he ever returns to MMA, but against BigNog or Mir, Nelson wouldn’t make it out of the second round…

  • Al Van Dal says:

Rampage Vs The Door has been the best fight so far this season.

  • Amped says:

Nelson would be like a 2nd rate Herring; HW gatekeeper.

  • RadioWaves says:

This fight was disgusting. I was literally laughing during the first round it was so stupid. They both should have lost.

  • russiandoeboi says:

    wow,
    i was tired just watching.
time to check the ‘ol cholesterol.
the winner pulled a brock and snubbed the sponsor
    RightGuard and thanked Mennen instead

  • russiandoeboi says:

    big
    ben
    rothwell
should fight the tuf 10 winner
