UFC 188 is just over a week away, and the card will feature one of the more compelling heavyweight fights the promotion’s had in a while. Why’s that?
Well, at the June 13th event, Cain Velasquez will be fighting for the first time since October, 2013, when he stopped Junior dos Santos. Since then, the renowned fighter has been sidelined with shoulder and knee injuries.
Due to the champ’s absence, the UFC had Mark Hunt fight Fabricio Werdum last November for the an interim title, and the latter won it with a highlight reel, flying knee.
So, the bout’s an intriguing one not only because Velasquez hasn’t fought in a long time, but because he’s taking on the always dangerous Werdum.
