UFC FN 67: Thiago Alves Relays “It Wasn’t my Night” After Posting Pic of Brutalized Nose

If you watched last night’s headliner for UFC Fight Night 67, then you know the scrap was not for the faint of heart. In round two, Carlos Condit blasted Thiago Alves with a standing elbow, which crushed the latter’s nose.

Alves continued to battle on, despite Condit’s storm of follow up punches, and made it through the bloody round. Unfortunately for the “Pitbull”, however, the doctor ruled his nose was too badly broken, and the fight was stopped.

Well, after the memorable bout, Alves posted the following comments, as well as the cringe inducing picture:

Infelizmente não foi a minha noite. Mais competição de alto nível é assim não se pode errar. Vou aprender com os meus erros e voltar bem melhor que antes. E vou ser campeão nunca desistirei, porque um filho teu não foge a luta! Só quero agradecer a Deus e a todo vcs pelo o apoio! Obrigado #UFCGoiania————– Unfortunately it wasn't my night. But that's how it is at the highest level of competition. A small setback is a great setup for a bigger comeback! I'll learn from my mistakes and get a lot better. I won't stop until I have that belt around my waist! Now back to the grind. Just wanna first thank God for blessing with this life. And a massive THANK YOU to all my fans for the support. And @ufc for this opportunity. I will be back!!!

When you consider how many surgeries Alves has undergone, and the fact he’s still competing at the highest levels of the sport, then you know he’ll be back from this. The 31 year-old missed all of 2013 and much of 2012 due to injuries, but since then Alves has gone 2-1.

Alves was coming off a decision win over Seth Baczynski and a stoppage win over Jordan Mein, before he met up with Condit.

UFC FN 67 was hosted by the Goiania Arena in Brazil.
