A planned lightweight bout between The Ultimate Fighter 8 winner Efrain Escudero and Nik Lentz has been scrapped from UFC Fight Night 20, with Escudero now likely to fight Evan Dunham while Lentz is expected to meet Jeremy Stephens on the January 20 card in Fairfax, Virginia.
Escudero (12-0) won TUF 8 with a unanimous decision win over Phillipe Nover last December and began his post-TUF career in September with a first-round knockout of Cole Miller. Dunham (9-0) has remained undefeated by earning back-to-back UFC victories over Per Eklund and Marcus Aurelio.
After losing 3 of his past 4 bouts, Stephens (16-5) rebounded by earning “Knockout of the Night” at UFN 19 in September with a first-round TKO of Justin Buchholz. Lentz (17-3) won his seventh-straight in September, topping Rafaello Oliveira by unanimous decision in his Octagon debut.
UFC Fight Night 20 is headlined by Gray Maynard vs. Nate Diaz and also includes Josh Koscheck vs. Mike Pierce, Tom Lawlor vs. Aaron Simpson, and Mike Guymon vs. Rory MacDonald.
