Following Mark Hunt’s one sided, and brutal, stoppage loss to Stipe Miocic, the legendary heavyweight has opened up about the defeat.

Immediately after Hunt’s TKO loss to Miocic at UFC Fight Night 65, the New Zealand fighter relayed the “old warhorse got beaten up” to his fans on Facebook. Now, in a more recent interview with 3 News from his homeland, Hunt had this to say about the defeat:

“It was a hard night in the office, but I took the beating like a man,” said Hunt.

“I got caught fighting with my energy levels down and you can’t make this mistake at the top level.”

There’s no question Hunt showed a massive amount of heart and toughness during the bout.

The former K-1 champ was badly bruised and swollen after the May 10th scrap, so much so, there has been widespread concern, in terms of what the physical cost has been for the 41 year old. Well, Hunt says “nothing wrong” with him, and he credited the UFC for taking care of him.

The defeat was Hunt’s third in his last five fights, and the feared slugger has dropped down to the #6 ranking as a result of the loss. Prior to facing Miocic, Hunt was stopped by interim champ Fabricio Werdum in November.

UFC FN 65 went down at the Adelaide Entertainment Center in Adelaide, Australia.
