Mark Munoz vs. Ryan Jensen Signed for UFC 108
Middleweights Mark Munoz and Ryan Jensen have signed to meet at UFC 108 on January 2 in Las Vegas, according to MMAjunkie.
Munoz (6-1), an All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State, improved to 5-0 following back-to-back wins at light heavyweight in the WEC in 2008, but suffered a first-round knockout loss in his UFC debut against Matt Hamill in March. Following his first career defeat, “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” dropped down to middleweight, making his debut at 185-pounds in August with a split decision win over Nick Catone at UFC 102.
After losing his first three bouts inside the Octagon, Jensen (14-5) finally notched his first UFC win in September at UFC Fight Night 19 with a first-round submission of Steve Steinbeiss. Jensen was just 2-4 over his last 6, losing UFC fights to Wilson Gouveia, Demian Maia, and Thales Leites, as well as a Strikeforce bout to Joey Villasenor while picking up two victories on the lower circuit.
UFC 108 is expected to be headlined by middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort and is also rumored to include Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva, Junior dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga, and Carlos Condit vs. Paul Daley.

I like Munoz, I hope he does well.
I liked watchin both of these guys but I gotta say im surprised theyre bringin Jensen back after such a dismal record. We’ve seen plenty of fighters have only one well fought loss and get released.
Possibly trying to help Munoz out?
That was my initial reaction. They started him with Hamill, a top fighter imo, then Cantone, now Jensen? Their hooking him up a little.
Not sure if anyone here saw Munoz last fight against Catone. It was awesome, back and fourth action Munoz looked realy good and beat a game Catone that night. Close fight to.
This is almost certainly a deal wherein if Jensen loses the fight, he also loses his job…
Thats this economy for ya.
Go Pokes!
I’ve always found it ironic that Jensen has finished the majority of his fights by submission but 3 of his 5 losses were by submission as well. Granted those guys were all sick(Maia, Leites, Gouveia) but in every loss(and most victories) he has a bad habit of becoming undisciplined and charges into a chance to finish with out protecting himself. While that’s nice and exciting its also dangerous and damn near suicidal.
Munoz should look to press Jensen into one of these slips, if he is able to do this he wins if not. Don’t sleep on Jensen, the 5 guys he’s lost to are all sick. However, he has yet to truly beat anyone of real record yet. I see Munoz using his OK State pedigree and grinding Jensen to an eventual stoppage by ground and pound.
