Mark Hunt had another memorable performance at UFC Fight Night 65, but for many negative reasons, as the legendary fighter was badly outgunned by Stipe Miocic.
Hunt came out firing big shots early in the bout, but Miocic’s pressure and wrestling soon took over. Hunt was able to get up and out on several occasions, but Miocic battered the courageous heavyweight with punches and elbows when he was on top.
The fight could have been stopped well before it hit round five, but finally, after Miocic took the badly swollen Hunt down once again, the bout was mercilessly stopped.
With the win, Miocic moved his overall record to 13-2, while Hunt’s fell to 10-10-1.
In the co-headliner, Robert Whittaker made short work of Brad Tavares, as he floored the middleweight with a booming left hook and finished the deal with punches. Whittaker’s record is now 14-4, and Tavares’ is 13-4.
