The injury woes of Anthony Pettis continue, as the UFC has announced that the former lightweight champ has injured his elbow, and as a result, he will no longer fight Myles Jury on July 25th.
Stepping in for Pettis will be Edson Barboza, who is coming off a decision loss to Michael Johnson in February, and is currently ranked #7 at 155. The #8th ranked Jury, meanwhile, lost by UD to Donald Cerrone in January.
While it remains to be seen how long he’ll be out for, Pettis is reportedly scheduled to undergo surgery. When you consider that the explosive striker has managed to fight just two times now since 2013 due to injuries, it makes this setback that much bigger.
As you probably know, Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov haven’t exactly been kind to Pettis when he’s gone down with injuries. The lightweight’s rivals have been critical of “Showtime”, and recently, Pettis fired “karma is a bitch” back at Nurmagomedov when he re-injured his knee.
Well, after it was revealed that Pettis has landed on the DL again, here is what Diaz had to say about the situation:

And what about Nurmagomedov? Did he pounce on the opportunity to blast the former champ?

How about that huh? The July 25th, UFC on FOX 16 will go down at Chicago’s United Center.
