The UFC will likely make its Virginia debut in January with UFC Fight Night 20, a Spike TV-televised event that is expected to be held on Monday, January 11 at the the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virignia near Washington, D.C.
According to MixedMartialArts.com, newcomers Mike “Joker” Guymon and Rory MacDonald, both King of the Cage champions who recently signed with the promotion, are likely to square off on the card.
The Patriot Center, a 10,000-seat arena on the campus of George Mason University, has previously held a number of Ultimate Warrior Challenge MMA events, including UWC 7 earlier this month.

Nice UFC logistics demonstrated here.
They sign Guymon over the weekend, MacDonald a couple of days later, and sign them to fight each other and drop it today.
I can’t imagine what the cel phone bills look like for Zuffa…
;)
cant ever say they dont try to stack cards and bring in new talent.. even with all the fighters on the payroll, i bet it is challenging not to give the public a thousand different combination of recycled bouts
The 170 KOTC champ and the 155 KOTC champ, duken it out in the UFC. Cool.
This is “Stupid” this is the only comment, I can think of to descript this. Sign 2 guys to see what they can do in the UFC and you put them up against each other.
The UFC are trying to market new fighters this is a very bad way of doing it, give them a UFC name fighter “Kampmann / Condit / Koscheck / Daley ,this way you can rate there abilities by comparison in a loss and add another win to the 4 talented guys I named. Also if they get a big win over one of these guys ,you introduce a new contender to 170 and the Casual Fans can also relate to the fighter because he’ll have a UFC noteable name under his belt.
I somewhat agree with you. I think the main reason for this match up is to get two new guys in against each other to get the whole UFC first fight jitters over with and then match them up against someone of their own level for their next fight. But then again they are both belt holders in KOTC so I don’t really think it will be that big of an issue.
am i the only one that noticed on the front page under the description it says rory markhem?
No, but you’re the only one rude enough to post on the typo…
:P
I Think this is going to be a really interesting fight especially for Macdonald i mean he’s what 19 undefeated and none of his fights have gone the distance. Could be a great addition to the lightweight or welterweight division.
I hope whey will bring it on !
Rory MacDonald only 9 Wins (4 sub, 5 (T)KO) not 19
I’m just glad that they are coming to Virginia, especially Fairfax.
wondering if there are any inside tricks/places to look for tickets. it appears they are not on sale yet. looking to surprise the boyfriend with tickets but new to all the ufc stuff to know where to look.. any help?
Tickets aren’t available yet, but should be on sale in the next few weeks.
Due to the size of the arena, it’s highly unlikely this event will sell out and if it does it won’t sell out quickly. My advice is to go to UFC.com and sign up for the newsletter. When tickets go on sale, you’ll get a passcode to get access to buy them before the general public.
