Jon Jones has reportedly made arrangements to turn himself in, after an arrest warrant has been issued for the UFC champ, following a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque.
On Sunday, it was reported that authorities were seeking Jones for questioning, after a hit-and-run sent a pregnant woman to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Then, it was revealed that Jones had been named a suspect in the incident.
As Monday progressed, however, news surfaced that the woman has incurred a broken arm, and that further, an arrest warrant has been issued for Jones. According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, Jones has made arrangements to turn himself in.
The latest reports also say that a pipe containing marijuana was found in the vehicle Jones was allegedly driving.
The 27 year-old is currently scheduled to fight Anthony Johnson on May 23rd at UFC 187. That card is also set to feature middleweight champion Chris Weidman take on Vitor Belfort.
Following the initial reports of the incident, the UFC posted the following statement:
“We are aware that the Albuquerque Police Department is interested in speaking to Jon Jones regarding his possible involvement in a motor vehicle accident. We are in the process of gathering facts and will reserve further comment until more information is available.”
