Rory MacDonaldUndefeated Canadian welterweight Rory MacDonald has signed a four-fight deal with the UFC, joining the promotion’s deep 170-pound roster.

MacDonald’s signing was today announced on The Underground, with his Octagon debut expected early next year.

MacDonald (9-0) has competed exclusively for King of the Cage since 2006, capturing the promotion’s World and Canadian lightweight titles before moving up to welterweight in his most-recent bouts. “The Waterboy” has earned stoppages in all of his fights, securing five submissions and four knockouts, including a second-round KO of former light heavyweight champ Nick Hinchliffe in September.

The signing follows last week’s four-fight deal with KOTC welterweight champ Mike Guymon.

The UFC is no place to be moving up in weight dude.(unless your a 6′2 skinny brazillian) Better go back to 155. Oh ya go Canada!!

Once waaayyy back when the UFC signed this one guy from Canada who was suppose to be kinda good and well through some good fights and a couple “learning experiences” (arm & tko {even though i still say he tapped}) this dude with a weird first name transformed into The Greatness, soo lets see what this kid can bring to the table…

and I think he would go back down to 155

at 5′11, he does have a frame to build on if he wanted to compete at welterweight, but being as hes a good submission fighter, that height sure could come in handy at 155

Great signing for the UFC, however unless this guy has a world-class strength trainer, who could transform him into a full-fledged UFC-level 170er, he’d be better off fighting at 155 than 170.
I totally agree with my Canadian brother from another mother, carls, in that the UFC is NOT the place to be going up in weightclass…
