Undefeated Brazilian prospect, Thomas Almeida, picked up the biggest win of his career as he TKO’d Canadian veteran Yves Jabouin in the first round.
Both fighters came into the bout as decorated strikers, but it was Jabouin who cared a big takedown early in the first round. Almeida showcased beautiful balance in getting back up to his feet where he and Canadian exchanged big punch-kick combinations.
Thomas kept the pressure on the feet and controlled the center of the Octagon. Although both fighters landed clean, technical striking combinations, all it took was a clean right straight from Almeida to stun Jabouin. The Brazilian swarmed his opponent standing against the cage with punches to the body and head. Referee Yves Lavigne stepped in to stop the fight with Jabouin still standing up. The crowd didn’t like the stoppage, but there was no protest from Jabouin.
This makes Almeida’s UFC career 2-0 now. The Brazilian prospect has received quite a bit of hype due to his outstanding finishing ability and undefeated record. The only fight he didn’t finish was his UFC debut where he won via unanimous decision. Now he picks up the biggest win of his career and looked as comfortable as ever. Very excited to see what awaits Almeida in the future.
